Newspapers Can Save on
Distribution Costs using
USPS Periodical
Requester
Newspapers delivered by
Standard Mail can save
up to 40% on
distribution costs by
switching to USPS
Periodical Requester.
Most saturation or free
community publications
rely on Standard (bulk)
Mail or unreliable
carriers to deliver
their product each
issue.
Publications that
convert to Periodical
Requestor status will
not only save 40% over
Standard Mail rates, but
will earn the respect of
their advertisers, out
of area advertising
agencies and their
readers.
Periodical Status
enables free
publications to pay USPS
Periodical rates,
usually reserved for
paid publications.
James Warner and Ryan
Duques founded and
operated Shore
Publishing Newspapers
for 13 years before
selling the group of
weekly newspapers.
There, they successfully
converted the weeklies
to Periodical Requester,
saving the company 35%
on distribution costs. |

Warner and Duques have condensed
their knowledge base for quickly
and efficiently converting
publications to a one and a
half-day course:
Requester Boot Camp.
Boot Camp participants will
benefit from on-site training,
review of current mailing and
distribution practices, and will
be given a comprehensive
"toolbox" of materials to use
for their own periodical
requester conversion.
Additionally, Duques and Warner
help publications form
partnerships with the USPS by
meeting with local officials and
communicating the plan.
